We are offering a short term contract employment opportunity for a Controller at a local non-profit in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This role carries a key function in our organization, overseeing the financial affairs and ensuring the accuracy of our financial systems.
You will also have the opportunity to interact with various stakeholders, including our Board of Trustees.
Responsibilities:
- Direct the financial affairs of the organization, ensuring all accounting functions are performed accurately and efficiently.
- Prepare for audits and maintain financial systems/reporting, including but not limited to, the general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Oversee endowment fund accounting and payroll systems, ensuring they align with organizational standards and regulations.
- Serve as a staff liaison to the Board of Trustees, providing them with necessary financial information and updates.
- Assist with financial matters, providing guidance on payroll, budgeting, and investment strategies.
- Review financial statistics included in reports for accuracy.
- Utilize skills in Non-profit Accounting, QuickBooks, General Journal, Journal Entries, Accounts Payable (AP), and Accounts Receivable (AR) to perform and manage various accounting tasks.
- Ensure all accounting practices adhere to the principles of Fund Accounting - Non-Profit.
- Prepare journal entries as needed to maintain accurate financial records.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Controller role or similar position.
- Proficiency in Accounting Functions, Auditing, and Budget Processes is required.
- Experience in Non-profit Accounting and Fund Accounting - Non-Profit is preferred.
- Must be adept in using QuickBooks for financial transactions and reporting.
- Familiarity with General Journal, Journal Entries, Journal Entry, and Journal Entry Preparation is essential.
- Expertise in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) is required.
- The ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections is crucial.
- Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills are necessary.
- Must have the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities.
- A bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required; a master's degree or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
- Must have a strong ethical framework and unquestionable integrity.
