Platform Systems Engineering and Integration – Summer Internship

Job Description:

The Platform Systems Engineering and Integration directorate serves to fill an important role as a system and spatial integrator of complex submarine designs. Members of each of the teams within our directorate work across disciplines to ensure that the individual components and subsystems of a submarine function as an integrated system.

Our focus on cross discipline integration is increasingly more important as the complexity of our products grows to provide the US and allied the Navies with the required warfighting capability to outpace our adversaries.

The Platform Systems Engineering and Integration directorate supports all major current and future submarine design programs at Electric Boat. Our directorate is specifically responsible for the application of systems engineering tenets and the integration of the submarine’s arrangement.

These responsibilities range from supporting platform level concept development and requirement definition, to detailed systems and arrangement integration, to system demonstration and requirement verification. Our directorate also functions as an integrator of current and future payload systems (e.g., missiles, countermeasures, etc.)

As a summer intern in the Platform Systems Engineering and Integration directorate, you’ll be in a unique position to be exposed to a wide range of engineering and design disciplines at Electric Boat. We strive to ensure that you’ll have a rewarding experience by providing a variety of assignments and opportunities for direct interaction with our products. Specific assignments may include supporting or leading the following areas on any of our engineering programs:

  • Requirements development and verification
  • Resolution of technical integration challenges
  • Test program development

  • Multi-discipline Major Area Team (MAT) spatial arrangement and integration
  • Electronic Visualization System (EVS) Meetings to review 3-D model arrangements
  • NAVSEA Customer interaction and coordination of approval of the 3-D model arrangements
Please note: Due to the high volume of applications received, our current process does not involve interviews. Rest assured that even though you will not be contacted for an interview, your time and effort are greatly appreciated. Each application is diligently reviewed for consideration.

Thank you for your understanding and interest!
