Washington - Data Scientist
Overview:

Work Schedule and Location:
On-Site: This full-time on-site position will work Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm in Washington, DC.
Responsibilities:
- The Data Scientist shall be a subject matter expert with demonstrated experience serving as a data scientist on a complex technology implementation or data analytics projects.
- Expertise leading moderate data science teams and has knowledge across business operations and development.
- Provides technical knowledge and analysis of highly specialized applications and operational environments, high-level functional IT systems analysis, design, integration, documentation, and implementation advice on exceptionally complex problems that need extensive knowledge of the subject matter for effective implementation.
- Applies advanced mathematical principles, methods, and knowledge of the functional area of expertise in compiling and fusing data from multiple IT systems to meet specific task order requirements to exceptionally difficult and narrowly defined problems.
- The individual is expected to have working knowledge of federal grant-making policies, procedures, and administration.
- The Data Scientist shall have strong expertise in applying pattern-recognition techniques to large structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data sets to automate and optimize data wrangling (extract, transform, clean, evaluate, normalize/standardize, and organize) from disparate sources.
- Technical expertise with data models, data mining, data cleansing, and segmentation techniques.
- Expertise developing interrogating databases with Structure Query Language (SQL) to develop complex queries involving joins, subqueries, aggregation, indices, common table expressions, and query optimization/plans.
- Development experience, with a focus on data manipulation and/or statistics, using one or more of these languages or applications: Python, R, SAS, Tableau, AWS.
- Experience in both small and big data environments with an understanding of the tradeoffs in scaling algorithms between differing environments.
- The ability to code and debug stored procedures is desirable.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline with 15 years of relevant experience OR a Master's degree with 8 years relevant experience.
- Working knowledge of federal grant-making policies, procedures, and administration.
- Structure Query Language (SQL) experience to develop complex queries
- Experience with one or more of the following languages/applications: Python, R, SAS, Tableau, AWS
- Experience in both small and big data environments with an understanding of the tradeoffs in scaling algorithms between differing environments.
- Ability to code and debug stored procedures is desirable.
