Robert Half is partnering with an innovative and rapidly growing tech start-up who is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant for a 6-month contract position. This individual will play a key role in supporting the finance team by assisting with general accounting functions, financial reporting, and ensuring the accuracy of financial data.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced start-up environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial records to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, including invoice entry, payment processing, and vendor communication.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and preparing supporting documentation for audits.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses.
- Maintain accurate records of financial transactions, including company expenses, income, and assets.
- Assist with payroll processing and related journal entries, as needed.
- Prepare tax filings and ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations.
- Monitor cash flow and assist with cash management to support operational needs.
- Provide support during the audit process, including compiling financial data and responding to audit inquiries.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial transactions are accurately recorded and aligned with company policies.
- Help streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency within the finance team.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and general ledger management.
- Experience with NetSuite and Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
- Strong attention to detail, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic, high-growth environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with various teams.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to learn quickly and adapt to change.
- Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and relevant industry regulations is a plus.
