Overview:

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking an Civil Engineering Intern to join our team in Columbia, MD!

In this role you will work with our professionals to develop plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D software, prepare specification and contract documents, prepare engineering reports and studies, perform calculations and construction quantity estimates, and perform construction inspections, and other miscellaneous duties as necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • Read and review project drawings and plans
  • Confer with engineers about preparing plans.
  • Use AutoCAD Civil 3D software under the charge of Engineers.
  • Evaluate pre-construction field conditions.
  • Observe project sites and evaluate contractors’ work to detect problems with a design.
  • Prepare reports and document project activities and data.
  • Prepare analyses from collected data.
  • Set up and help maintain project files and records.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong computer literacy, to include MS Office.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Currently attending a college or university in the United States and pursuing a degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a related degree.
  • Hydrology type work or coursework and Hydraulics coursework.
  • AutoCAD experience preferred.
  • Civil 3D experience preferred.
  • HydroCAD experience a plus.
  • Site/Civil interest specifically Land Development.
  • Students with some prior internship experience are preferred, but any candidates who apply will be reviewed and considered for different roles.
  • Junior or senior standing (going into Junior or Senior year).
  • Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Working Conditions/Environment:

Our internships are a combination of real, billable client work, meaning design, field work, and site visits may all be included.
