Your New Opportunity:

The Assistant General Manager is primarily responsible for assisting the General Manager in overseeing all departments and aspects of the Hotel and acting as the General Manager when the General Manager is not present.

The Assistant General Manager shall strive to provide exceptional service to both internal and external guests at all times. They will be responsible for exemplifying SCP’s Culture & Core Values.

The Assistant General Manager is expected to spend more than 50% of their time performing the duties in bold below and is expected to exercise discretion and independent judgment in carrying out their duties . In exercising discretion and independent judgment, the Assistant General Manager is expected to compare and evaluate possible courses of conduct, and acting or making a decision after considering the various possibilities, including when the Assistant General Manager makes suggestions and recommendations to others.

The fact that the duty is in bold does not necessarily mean it is of more or less importance than non-bolded duties.

What You Will Master: .
  • Oversee the hotel operations, including but not limited to directing the work of team members, when the General Manager is not present.
  • Regularly and directly assist in Revenue Management for the hotel and work closely with its brand, owners, and the central team
  • Grow the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the hotel by formulating, affecting, interpreting, or implementing management policies and/or operating practices.
  • Develop and direct a team to make the hotel successful.
  • Utilize company reporting systems to include:
  • Daily/weekly/monthly activities
  • Time clock procedures
  • Labor performance reports
  • Accounts payable
  • Forecasting
  • Make suggestions and recommendations regarding recruitment and selection of team members and participate in the interview process of potential team members.
  • Make suggestions and recommendations regarding the advancement and promotion of team members.
  • Make suggestions and recommendations regarding recognition and reward programs, safety management, performance evaluations, and team member relations.
  • Assist department managers with team member relations, including handling team member complaints and grievances and making recommendations and suggestions to GM and PS when necessary, regarding disciplinary action to be taken against a team member, up to and including termination.
  • Understand and uphold operational standards and guest satisfaction ratings.
  • Adhere to and communicate budget requirements and restrictions by administering the budget.
  • Control all operational and departmental expenses.
  • Maintain on-going communication with all staff in all departments.
  • Inspect, plan, ensure, and determine that all materials, supplies, and equipment are in complete readiness for service.
  • Maintain knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment.
  • Maintain knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures, and standards.
  • Access all functions of computer/software systems.
  • Provide suitable training, reinforcement, and coaching for team members, as necessary.
  • Guide and direct team members to achieve established goals and objectives, including planning work for team members as necessary.
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.
  • Cultivate collaborative, mutually supportive relationships with other departments and co-workers.
  • Monitor and supervise team members' interaction with guests, ensuring prompt and courteous service; resolve discrepancies with respective team members, including taking and/or suggesting to the GM that disciplinary action be taken against a team member, up to and including termination.
  • Adhere to Hotel requirements for guest and team member accidents or injuries and in emergency situations.
  • Assist team members with their job functions to ensure optimum service to guests, , but in no instance should the Assistant General Manager Spend more than 50% of their time assisting team members with their job functions.
  • Cultivate the SCP Culture & Core Values by leading our team members to a deeper understanding of our brand. Encourage team member buy-in and reward team member ownership of the SCP Culture.

The Essentials:

  • Previous experience in Hotel Management/Renovations (2+ years preferred)
  • Strong background in Operations/Housekeeping/Front Desk
  • Nights and Weekends Availability is a requirement
  • Energized by a rapid and ever-changing startup environment.
  • A plus if you have experience in MEWS, Whistle, and F&B
