A person in this Accounting Manager role will be responsible for managing and overseeing the general ledger to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and possesses strong analytical skills to support efficient accounting operations.
Responsibilities:
General Ledger Accounting & Reconciliations:
- Prepare and post journal entries ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual general ledger account reconciliations.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies between subledgers and the general ledger.
- Assist in month-end and year-end close processes.
Payroll Processing:
- Oversee payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee wages and benefits.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and ensure proper allocation to GL accounts.
- Collaborate with HR to ensure compliance with payroll tax regulations and reporting requirements.
Vendor Invoices & Payments:
- Review and process vendor invoices, ensuring proper approvals and coding.
- Manage vendor payment runs, including checks, ACH, and wire transfers.
- Address vendor inquiries and resolve payment issues promptly.
Corporate Credit Card Management:
- Review and reconcile corporate credit card transactions, ensuring proper coding & documentation.
- Work with employees to resolve missing receipts, incorrect charges, or policy violations
- Prepare monthly credit card activity reports and integrate them into the general ledger.
Other Responsibilities:
- Support internal and external audits by providing required schedules and documentation.
- Manage employee access in Unanet.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation in accounting operations.
- Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analyses as needed.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, accounting principles, and regulatory requirements.
OPERATING HOURS AND EXPECTATIONS:
- This position anticipates mostly standard hours, with some variability based on business needs and surge periods like month-end, quarter-end, year-end closing.
- This position is expected to perform work on-site at the Ashburn headquarters with some work from home flexibility.
TRAVEL:
- This role anticipates no travel.
Qualifications:
CLEARANCE:
- This position does not require an active security clearance at the time of application.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
CERTIFICATION(S):
- CPA or equivalent, preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ years of experience in general ledger accounting or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and ASC 606.
- Experience with payroll systems and ERP/accounting software (Unanet preferred).
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills to liaise with cross-functional teams and vendors.
