Pharmacy Buyer - Pharmacy
Responsibilities:
The Pharmacy Buyer manages procurement of all pharmaceuticals and related supplies. The buyer provides the timely and cost-effective purchase and distribution of pharmaceuticals and related supplies. The buyer utilizes inventory management control to maintain adequate quantities while adhering to established drug budget and utilization pressures.Receives and reviews purchase requisitions for completeness, contract compliance, and conformity to policy and procedures. Handles pharmaceutical inventory from the point of receipt from vendors to distribution to areas throughout the institution.
Coordinates inventory to resolve/manage back-orders, shortages or recalls and secures acceptable product alternatives when necessary. Evaluates and adjusts par levels in response to ongoing utilization, shortages, waste, and critical needs
Job Responsibilities- Coordinates drug procurement operations and inventory management to ensure critical drug availability, accurate inventory value assessment, compliance to 340B, optimized inventory turns, and minimized drug expirations.
- Generates purchasing and inventory reports as requested by departmental leadership.
- Receives request for purchases and reviews for completeness, contract compliance and conformity to policy and procedures.
- Coordinates inventory to resolve and manage backorders, shortages, recalls; and secures alternative products when necessary.
- Accurately processes invoices from wholesalers and vendors.
- Analyzes and evaluates supplier performance and recommends changes to leadership.
- Monitors reverse distributors for all credits that are due for expired and recalled medications.
- Participates in continuous quality assessment, improvement activities and medication safety initiatives.
- Coordinates and maintains timely flow of purchasing and receipts with Accounts Payable.
- Assures compliance with the Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA).
- Maintains oversight of emergency supplies.
- Prepares financial statements and reports.
- Maintains all purchase records, invoices, receipts, and inventory control records.
- Identifies and evaluates available and new technologies to assist in inventory management.
- All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education Requirements- High School Diploma
- OR - GED - OR
- Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required upon hire or within the first 6 months of employment
- Inventory management experience.
- Experience with purchasing medications and related supplies
- Pharmacy technician experience.
