Registered Nurse Obstetrics / Labor and Delivery - RNOLD24-14174

Position Overview:

• As a Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Obstetrics and Labor & Delivery, you will provide comprehensive care to women during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. Your role will be critical in ensuring safe and positive birth experiences for mothers and their newborns.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough assessments of pregnant patients throughout labor, including monitoring fetal heart rates and maternal vital signs.
• Provide emotional and physical support to patients during labor, including pain management techniques such as epidurals, medications, and non-pharmacological methods.
• Collaborate with physicians and midwives during the delivery process, ensuring safe practices and facilitating immediate care for the newborn.
• Monitor and assess patients during the postpartum period, providing education on recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
• Educate patients and families about labor, delivery, postpartum care, and infant care, addressing any questions or concerns.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of patient assessments, care provided, and any changes in condition.
• Respond to obstetric emergencies promptly, employing critical thinking and clinical judgment to ensure the safety of mother and baby.
• Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including obstetricians, midwives, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality care.
• Act as an advocate for patients' needs and preferences throughout the labor and delivery process.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred).

Licensure/Certifications:

• Active RN license in IA.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification preferred.
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification preferred.

Experience:

• Previous experience in Labor & Delivery or a similar obstetrics setting preferred.

Skills:

• Strong clinical assessment skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations. Compassion and patience are essential.
