Field Service Engineer

This is a new opportunity based in the Eastern United States for a Field Service Engineer in the Bruker Optics Division to install and provide support for high technology analytical equipment in research and QC labs of pharmaceutical companies, universities, government research labs, and industrial sites.Will work with highly complex equipment (example: Bruker FTIR/FTNIR/Raman spectrometers and microscopes) which requires an advanced understanding of electronics and optical alignment. This candidate can be located in either the Northeastern US or the Southeastern US.
Responsibilities:
- Travel to customer sites to perform installs, commissioning, preventative maintenance, and break/fix repairs of Bruker’s infrared, near-infrared, and Raman analyzers and microscopes
- Conduct work activities in compliance with safety policies and industry safety standards
- Diagnose problems by in-depth troubleshooting to repair complex optical instruments. Re-qualify the instrument after service/repair to ensure proper performance of the instrument
- Conduct on-site basic instrument and software training for customers
- Provide accurate, professional, and timely documentation of service calls and visits using a service CRM
- Perform services within allotted time and budget
- Organize and prioritize your schedule in accordance with customer requirements to fulfill needs for immediate attention when onsite visits are required
- Plan and coordinate your own travel arrangements using an online bookings system and then complete expense reporting within allotted time
- Attend periodic in-depth product service training at our Bruker Optics facilities located domestically and internationally as required to meet the needs of the job
- Communicate and work closely with Service and Support Centers, including assisting the customer via telephone with product information and problem solving
- Provide feedback to Sales and Marketing to report potential customer needs and applications of interest using Bruker Optics products
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor, or Master’s in one of the physical/biological sciences, engineering, electronics, or related discipline preferred. An associate’s degree in Instrumentation and or Analyzer applied sciences will be considered as will equivalent military training in a technical support field
- Minimum 2-4 years of experience diagnosing and repairing electronic, electromechanical and aligning optical equipment. Experience with FTIR/FTNIR/Raman Spectrometers is beneficial but not required
- Must have & be able to maintain valid travel documentation (i.e. passport). A valid drivers' license issued by state of residence and in good standing. Should have the ability to enter US government sites (e.g. national laboratories), industrial facilities, or academic institutions located in the United States
- Excellent communications skills needed to work with a wide variety of knowledge levels with customers of differing backgrounds, and within Bruker Optics (e.g. management, sales, marketing, service, and applications).
- Proven knowledge of analog electronics, high voltage circuitry/circuits, laser technology. Strong technical skills involving analytical instrumentation.
- Excellent customer focus with ability to reliably respond to inquiries, communicate and interact with customers
- Excellent verbal, written, MS Office, computer, technical data, communication and presentation skills, with knowledge of TCP/ IP protocols, and ability to communicate complex technical issues in an easy-to-understand manner
- Excellent organizational skills with ability to work independently, prioritize, multi-task, follow through, and meet deadlines within an entrepreneurial and customer-focused work environment
- Ability and willingness to travel approximately 70% as required
