For more than 25 years, we’ve provided comprehensive high-risk pregnancy services and delivered over 26,000 high-risk babies at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center.We offer a range of care services for higher-risk pregnancies, including mothers over age 35, multiples, complications, birth defects, issues such as diabetes or hypertension, or pregnancies after infertility.

Position Summary:
Under general supervision, performs basic medical assistant activities on patients. Assists physicians or practitioner with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care.

Responsibilities:
- Performs basic medical assistant procedures such as weighing patients and taking vital signs. Performs injections, blood sugars, and urinalysis and urine pregnancy tests. Responsible for alerting the provider of abnormalities.
- Verifies patient information by interviewing patient and confirming purpose of visit.
- Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients and families during visit; demonstrates sensitivity to patient's comfort and privacy.
- Assists physicians or practitioner with examinations, various OB/GYN procedures, and other processes related to direct patient care.
- Ensures an adequate stock of supplies and necessary equipment.
- Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient's medical records. Assists with ordering lab requests based on order given by provider.
- Inspects area daily for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations and standards and takes corrective action when appropriate.
- Assists with cleaning instruments and cleaning and re-stocking examination rooms on a daily basis. Transports instruments to sterile processing as needed.
- Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.
Minimum Experience:
One (1) year related experience in a medical office or facility required.
