Position Summary
The Staff Accountant is responsible for recording various payment methods into financial systems and addressing client and attorney inquiries. This role also involves reconciling aggregated batches of financial data, ensuring accuracy in bank and credit card transactions.
Job Duties/Responsibilities- Record client payments from various methods into the accounting systems, ensuring alignment with the billing system.
- Perform cash receipts reconciliation.
- Perform bank reconciliations for multiple bank accounts.
- Reconcile the firm's credit card accounts.
- Manage reconciliations for the firm-funded online account with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
- Process recruiter payments and maintain communication with recruiters.
- Process and manage state excise and sales tax payments.
- Perform data entry tasks for various ad-hoc projects as assigned
- Contribute to workflow and process improvements with a proactive and innovative mindset.
- Safeguard client and payment information, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- Offer insights and input as the company enhances processes and implements new software in the coming year.
- Support the accounts payable team during vendor payment runs.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and cloud-based environment.
- 3+ years of accounting experience with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or other related software (experience with QuickBooks Desktop preferred).
- Experience working in a law firm environment a plus.
