Sheet Metal Journeyman

Our success throughout the Northeast has created a need for a Sheet Metal Journeyman to work out of the West Wareham, MA Office. As a journeyman, you will be responsible for fabricating, installing, and maintaining sheet metal systems, including HVAC ductwork, roofing, and other metal components, in compliance with state and local regulations.You will work independently or as part of a team, ensuring high-quality workmanship and adherence to safety protocols.
Here's some of what you can expect:
- Fabricate, install, and repair sheet metal systems such as HVAC ducts, roofing, siding, and flashings according to project specifications and blueprints.
- Measure, cut, and shape metal materials using hand tools, power tools, and machinery such as shears, brakes, and welding equipment.
- Install ventilation systems, gutters, and architectural sheet metal components in commercial, residential, and industrial projects.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders to accurately complete tasks.
- Ensure all work meets state and local codes, as well as company quality standards.
- Perform inspections of existing systems and identify areas for repair or replacement.
- Collaborate with other trades and construction professionals on-site to coordinate installation and ensure project timelines are met.
- Follow all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintaining a clean, organized worksite.
- Provide guidance and support to apprentices and less experienced workers.
- Maintain and care for company tools and equipment.
Requirements:
- Valid Massachusetts Journeyperson Sheet Metal License (Required).
- Completion of a recognized sheet metal apprenticeship program.
- At least 2-3 years of experience in sheet metal work, with a focus on HVAC systems, roofing, and architectural metal installations.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and construction documents.
- Strong knowledge of Massachusetts state codes and safety regulations.
- Experience using hand and power tools, including shears, brakes, and welding equipment.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with other team members and clients.
- Physical stamina and ability to work in various environments, including at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working on ladders, scaffolding, and other elevated platforms.
- Ability to stand, bend, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
