JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/objective

We are seeking an organized, dedicated, and zealous individual to serve as the Campus Minister for Detroit Catholic Campus Ministry (DCCM). This entry-level position is integral to fostering the evangelization, spiritual growth, and faith development of college students.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for evangelizing young adults, a heart for ministry, and the ability to engage with students on a personal and spiritual level.

The Campus Minister will serve primarily at the campuses of University of Michigan, Dearborn and Henry Ford College while also being present at Wayne State University, and the College of Creative Studies, in support of DCCM.

The Campus Minister works directly with the Chaplain, Advancement Officer, and the Outreach Coordinator to serve the mission of DCCM by working to evangelize college students. The Campus Minister will conduct a variety of pastoral and administrative tasks.

Detroit Catholic Campus Ministry exists for the students at Wayne State University, University of Michigan-Dearborn and the surrounding campuses as a place to encounter Jesus Christ, to grow as disciples and to be sent out to witness to Him on campus and throughout their lives.

Essential functions
Work collaboratively with the Chaplain to fulfill the mission of DCCM.
Serve as the main presence of DCCM at the Gabriel Richard Student Center and the main contact with the University of Michigan - Dearborn and Henry Ford College.
Work to connect students with the work and mission of DCCM.
Coordinate the campus ministry program goals, by creating opportunities for fellowship and intentional evangelization.
Coordinate the liturgical life of DCCM including the training and recruitment of liturgical ministers, scheduling priest support, maintaining the chapels and liturgy schedule among other responsibilities.
Organize retreats, mission trips, and other events that foster spiritual and personal development.
Aid in communications with students and student leaders regarding programs, events, and leadership opportunities.
Coordinate with the Chaplain and Campus Ministry staff on event planning and organization of campus ministry, especially with the bi-weekly Community Nights at the Gabriel Richard Student Center.
Coordinate service opportunities for students.
Provide a welcoming and engaging presence for students, with a greater focus at the Gabriel Richard Student Center.
Assist with various administrative tasks and responsibilities.
Act as point of contact for vendors on outlined campuses.

Submit expense reports and reimbursement requests in a timely manner.

A desire and an ability to work with college students

Must have the ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team

Physical demands
Position requires the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work.
May involve some lifting, carrying, pushing/or pulling of objects and materials (5-50 pounds).
May involve extended periods of time standing or sitting at a keyboard or workstation.
May involve repetitive motion (i.e., typing).

May involve walking long distances and climbing stairs.

Travel required

50% to the various college campuses

Required education and experience

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university program or equivalent combination of education and work experience with demonstrated successes.
Three years' experience in campus ministry.
Strong computer skills with demonstrated competence in Microsoft Office.

Two years' experience in a leadership role.

Additional eligibility requirements

Aptitude and willingness to learn new computer applications including project management and customer relationship management.
Keyboard at the net corrected rate of 50 WPM.
Must be able to work with discretion and in confidence with all information.
Must have the ability to work independently with little direction.
Communicate effectively both written and verbal.

Ability to work with a variety of projects, simultaneously.
