Network Engineers are responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring and managing local and wide area networks, to ensure maximum uptime for all Cordish Gaming properties. This role includes the implementation of new systems/configurations, maintaining/upgrading existing systems and the documentation/standardization of network designs, configurations and policies.This person will participate in a peer review process to ensure all proposed changes are implemented following Company security standards.
The Network Engineer will provide the highest level of support for troubleshooting incidents and will update problem records in an incident tracking system. This person will help train and mentor other members of the team. They may also participate in projects with significant impact and where close coordination and communication is required with other areas such as the networks, database management, system services, and application development organizations.The ideal candidate will have at least ten years of experience in an IT discipline with at least five years of hands on network design experience.
Responsibilities:
Where You'll Make an Impact:
- Work with IT Infrastructure Team to design, implement and maintain multisite WAN.
- Work with IT Infrastructure Team to design, implement and maintain large wired/wireless LAN which include corporate, guest and regulated networks.
- Configure and maintain Lucent Alcatel/HP/Aruba/Palo Alto/Cisco Firewalls, routers, AP's and switches.
- Implementation of Network Access Controls including 802.1x using centralized controls.
- Review and recommend secure system configuration for workstations/laptops and provide security recommendations.
- Work with IT Infrastructure Team to architect, design, schedule, implement and document networking solutions for requests to business needs.
- Maximize network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Perform network troubleshooting to isolate, diagnose and fix common network problems.
- Conducted risk assessment of current network/computing environment and recommend actions in order to reduce the risk.
- Train and mentor other members of the Infrastructure and Support Operational Team.
- Work in conjunction with management to plan and implement LAN related infrastructure projects.
- Work with IT Infrastructure Team to design, develop, and implement highly complex security architectures, frameworks and infrastructures.
- Participate in development of IT Infrastructure policies and standards.
- Review and modify access control lists (ACLs) on network switching, firewalls and routing equipment as needed to maintain security standards.
- Available to work any and all shifts.
- Maintain cleaning for all computer hardware.
- Assist in pulling and terminating cable.
- Be available for on-call support.
Skills to Help You Succeed:
- Ability to sit for long periods of time and ability to perform moderate lifting of 30 lbs. or more.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, lift and reach.
- Ability to work long and varied hours and on shifts, weekends, holidays and special events as needed.
- Must be able to read, speak and effectively communicate ideas in English.
- Must be able to think analytically, have basic math skills and be able to read and interpret spreadsheets.
- Ability to make independent decisions and recommendations.
Qualifications:
Must-Haves:
- Five years of experience in an IT discipline with hands on network configuration.
- Preferred Computer/Information Science, Security or Technical Degree.
- Technical Certifications including CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Net+, Microsoft/AWS/Google are a plus.
- Technical experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree or certification.
