Responsibilities:

The primary purpose of the Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) position is to provide high quality patient care. The APN utilizes advanced practice nursing expertise to provide care to patients in the Observation Unit. Other responsibilities for the APN include participation in staff orientation and consultation for patients, families and health care team members.
Works collaboratively with Physicians, Nursing Director, Managers and case workers to identify patient care and staff development needs. Conducts research in collaboration with all health care disciplines. May provide work direction to support staff and staff nurses within the Observation Unit.

Participates in staff development programs, patient/family education programs, performance improvement and education programs related to care for patients and staff.

Qualifications:

Certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the State of New Jersey. Two (2) years of clinical nursing experience in Emergency Department, Critical Care, Medical/Surgical or Perioperative services required. Demonstrated ability to work independently and with a team to perform the day-to-day activities of the unit.

BLS (CPR) and ACLS required. Computer literacy required.
