General Description:The City of Hamilton Police Department is recruiting for Police Officer positions. Candidates must complete testing with the National Testing Network (NTN) by the specified closing date. The NTN exam will serve as the civil service exam for this recruitment.
Eligibility Criteria:Applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria:
Possess the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) certificationPossess an out-of-state Police Officer certification
Be a current active student in a police academy
Candidates with a passing NTN score within the past year may transfer their score to the City of Hamilton. In the event of tied scores, rank will be determined by the application submission time.

Job Requirements:
Age: Minimum 18 years at the time of applicationCitizenship: U.S. citizen or in the process of obtaining citizenship (required prior to appointment)
Education: High school diploma or GED
Driver's License: Valid Ohio drivers license at time of appointment
Vision: Must meet requirements of 20/250 uncorrected and 20/20 corrected
Disqualification Criteria:
Felony/Criminal Disqualifiers:
Theft offenses as an adult within the last five years exceeding $1,000 or establishing a pattern during employmentFraudulent claims exceeding $1,000
Felony convictions or admissions as an adult or juvenile violent felonies
Recent misdemeanor convictions as an adult within the past five years
Driving Disqualifiers:
Vehicular homicide convictionsOVI convictions within the past five years or multiple OVI convictions
Four moving violations within the past three years
Lack of valid drivers license and insurance
Drug Use Disqualifiers:
Drug offenses (except marijuana) within three years of applicationMarijuana use within one year of application or during selection
Manufacturing or sale of drugs within five years unless under certain minor conditions
Employment Disqualifiers:
Three or more involuntary terminations within the last five years, excluding layoffs or business closuresTermination or resignation from public safety-related employment post-probation
