Overview:

Prepares and compiles records, and processes orders in a hospital setting, by performing the following duties, supporting the nursing philosophy. May include weekends, holidays, day, evening, or night shift hours. Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Processes orders in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Answers the telephone and call lights appropriately and provides information or relays messages to patients and staff.
  • Directs visitors to patients' rooms.
  • Maintains medical records of current patients.
  • Processes patient charges and orders supplies as needed.
  • Floats to various units based on identified need.
  • Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities.

Education and Experience

Completion of Unit clerk course or equivalent on the job training.

Certification and Licensure

Approved CPR or BLS certification within 90 days.
