Simulation Modeling Engineer

Overview:

i3 is seeking a Simulation Modeling Engineer to develop high fidelity simulation models while leveraging tools such as MATLAB/Simulink for model development. Preferred candidates will have a strong understanding in Simulink model development with prior knowledge on code generation of models for program deployment.

Models will be integrated with a cutting-edge training and simulation solution for the MQ-1C Gray Eagle Uncrewed Aerial System (UAS) and provide enough fidelity to achieve model accreditation through operational system testing.

This position is located at our Huntsville office with the option of hybrid work.

Responsibilities:

  • Candidate will develop simulation models primarily related to fixed-wing aerospace capabilities with the option to extend domains to aircraft subcomponents such as weapon flyouts, antenna RF pattern modeling, or turret movement accuracies.
  • Candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and implement Simulink models ensuring high-quality and reliable software solutions
  • Routine collaboration with team members in developing system capabilities.
  • The candidate will be familiar with good configuration management practices and will be responsible for proper product maintenance and configuration management.
  • Willingness to travel, as required

Qualifications:

Required Experience
  • Have a Bachelor’s degree (or advanced degree) from an accredited college (ABET preferred) in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or the hard sciences, with 10+ years of professional experience.
  • Have experience with an agile development methodology and associated tools.
  • Have experience with a configuration management software tool.
  • Simulink modeling and code generation to design control algorithms
  • Security Clearance: Candidate must have the ability to obtain a SECRET security clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
Preferred Experience
  • Familiarity with UAS CONOPS and model accreditation is a plus.
  • Experience developing 6DOF aircraft simulation models is a plus.
