What We're Looking For

This position will contribute to the mission of the University by providing support for the Global Mission Leadership Initiative as the Program Coordinator within the Diana R. Garland School of Social Work.
A bachelor's degree and one year of relevant work experience are required. A master's degree and three years of experience are preferred.
Additional experience will be considered in lieu of one another.
A valid Driver License with a clear driving record of at least two years is required.
This is a part-time position.
Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States on a Full-Time basis.
What You Will Do
Student Support
  • Provide ongoing academic, professional, social, and emotional support throughout the MSW program including integration of MSW curriculum into cultural context and re-integration back into home community.
  • Provide academic advising, assist students in registering for classes prior to each semester, and provide guidance for selecting electives based on student's interests.
  • Coordinate pairing students with a faculty mentor.
  • Build a yearly student mentorship calendar (i.e. rotating one-on-ones, group gatherings, etc.).
  • Facilitate GML student and GML faculty events including meetings, dinners, outings, holidays, etc.
  • Organize and implement GML retreats with the GML team at the end of the foundation year and end of specialization year debriefs.
  • Prepare students for return home through debriefing exercises and assistance in making summer plans between the first and second year.
  • Develop content for introductory Zoom calls with GML Scholarship recipients to review program components, expectations, and other important information.
  • Facilitate the preparation process for GML students and answer questions from students in preparation for the program.
  • Support students through the acceptance process and documentation.
  • Build and facilitate pre-arrival GML Canvas site with the GML Program Manager including introductory activities, housing forms, technology preparation, writing preparatory assignments, and advanced internship placement preparation with the MSW Practicum Director.
  • Plan/schedule student arrival from the airport to Waco and orientation weeks.
  • Act as liaison with Arbors Apartments and GML students, and prepare apartments, including buying needed supplies.
  • Maintain correspondence with CGE regarding students' visa status and CPT authorization.
  • Develop and implement student scholarship program evaluation.
  • Plan orientation schedule in line with MSW orientation and CGE Global Bears Week for incoming cohort including setting up bank accounts, signing housing lease, reviewing GML student expectations and APA style guide, discussing what to expect in the American classroom, meeting with Faculty Mentor, and orienting to campus, transportation options, the MSW degree plan, internship site, and Writing Center.
Recruitment
  • Recruit 3-4 person GML Cohorts every other year.
  • Assist the Program Director in mapping out a strategic recruitment plan with a communication timeline for referral networks and potential GML candidates (both for general recruitment and Latin America recruitment).
  • Manage consistent communication and support through the application process with potential candidates regarding application pieces, deadlines, etc., keeping track of communications sent and application pieces received for reporting at each weekly staff meeting.
  • Maintain database of referral networks and communication data of both referral networks and applicants/candidates.
  • Develop recruitment print pieces in collaboration with the Program Manager and GSSW Marketing Director.
  • Track potential candidate application status in Slate.
  • Develop content for GML Info/GML Application Webinars (monthly during recruitment season).
  • Provide needed/edited content to the GML Program Manager to update student/ recruitment information on the website.
  • Streamline MSW/GML application pieces and processes.
  • Decide application deadlines and develop email communication pieces and a timeline for the application process.
Practicum Education
  • Assist practicum education staff and online program in supporting the development of international internships with GML alumni.
  • Establish advanced placement internships in home countries for each GML student utilizing GML networks.
  • Find GML alumni field supervisors for each GML student.
Program Evaluation
  • Conduct program monitoring and evaluation of the Student Scholarship Program.
  • Develop and gather GML Alumni information annually, sending information to the Program Manager to be included on the alumni spreadsheet as needed.
  • Execute GML alumni field supervisors' evaluation to potentially enhance and provide needed support and training.
  • Gather information from GSSW faculty to evaluate GML student support and potential program offerings.
Other
  • Attend weekly GML staff meetings and bi-monthly GSSW faculty meetings.
  • Assist and train GML GA and GML Intern.
  • Provide support, mentorship, and guidance to the GML GA and GML MSW Intern in various tasks.
  • Assist the Program Director in special projects as needed and as assigned.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission.
  • Ability to comply with University policies.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
