M & A Staff Accountant

As a staff accountant in M&A Accounting & Integration, you will be responsible for on-boarding, consolidating, and analyzing the monthly financial results of newly acquired companies. There will also be opportunities for special projects, such as preparing purchase accounting documents, implementing company-wide processes and policies, and reporting results and findings to management.

Responsibilities:
You will:
- Act as point of contact and accounting representative for newly acquired company’s accounting team
- Prepare monthly/quarterly reconciliations and record journal entries
- Analyze financial results and investigate results; assess the reasonableness and proper accounting treatment
- Incorporate automation and other efficiencies into the month-end processes in collaboration with senior managers, directors, corporate controller, and the chief accounting officer
- Drive consistency in accounting policies and implement best practices at the newly acquired company
- Assist in responding to external audit requests
- Partner with others within the accounting and other departments, including financial planning and analysis, mergers and acquisitions, and tax and external specialists.
Qualifications:
You have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 2-3 years + experience; public accounting, monthly close experience is a plus
- Proficiency in Excel; working knowledge of Blackline and Workiva’s W-Desk are a plus
- The ability to work onsite in our North Bergen office 4 days a week.
