Faculty, Metallurgy/Materials Science, Part-time
Overview:
The faculty will be responsible for educational leadership and student instruction on a part-time basis in the Metallurgy/Materials Science area.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION- Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Materials Science or related discipline. Required
- Master's Degree in Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science or related discipline. Preferred
- Coursework in or experience using computers in instruction. Preferred
- Three (3) years of industrial experience in metallurgy/materials science. Preferred
- Five (5) years of industrial experience in metallurgy/materials science. Preferred
- Relevant teaching experience on secondary (high school) or postsecondary school level. Preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form. Required
- Developed organizational skills. Required
- Computer literacy in specialty area. Required
Responsibilities:
- Instruct and evaluate students in metallurgy/materials science courses.
- Maintain accurate written records of student performance.
- Assume responsibility for laboratory coordination and maintenance.
- Maintain communications with School administrators as appropriate.
- Notify department chair of the need for supplies, materials, tools, equipment, or maintenance as appropriate.
- Maintain official student rosters online and enter student final grades into the college computer record system.
- Maintain office hours according to contractual guidelines.
- Attend department meetings as requested.
Physical Standards and Special Job Features:
- Some lifting up to 10 lbs. may be required.
- Dexterity to manipulate test equipment.
- Ability to move about lab to provide individual hands-on instruction.
The part-time rate for 2024/25 will be the greater of $1160 per credit or $773 per contact hour, prorated for student enrollment under seven. The approved substitute pay rate is $48.31 per hour during the first week of substituting and the prorated part-time teacher rate for consecutive substitute assignments that exceed one week.
