Part-Time Payroll Specialist

We are looking for a detail-oriented Part-Time Payroll Specialist to join our team in Rochester, New York on a contract basis. This role will be 25-30 hours a week and involves overseeing all aspects of the payroll process in the nonprofit industry, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.

You will be responsible for handling payroll inquiries and issues, collaborating with internal teams, and mentoring a team of payroll specialists.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the entire payroll process, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
  • Handle payroll inquiries and issues from employees in a timely and detail oriented manner
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve payroll discrepancies and ensure accurate reporting
  • Develop and maintain payroll procedures, policies, and documentation to ensure consistency and compliance
  • Stay informed about changes in payroll laws and regulations and update payroll processes accordingly
  • Lead a team of payroll specialists, providing guidance, training, and support as needed
  • Implement and maintain payroll software systems for optimal functionality
  • Prepare and analyze payroll reports for management review, identifying trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement
  • Manage compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to payroll taxes, wage and hour laws, and other relevant legislation
  • Process payroll for multiple clients accurately and on time

It requires proficiency in ADP
  • Payroll and Paylocity.
  • Extensive experience in managing payroll functions within the non-profit sector
  • Proficiency in using payroll systems such as ADP and Paylocity
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and guide a team of payroll professionals
  • Solid understanding of payroll tax laws and regulations
  • Proven experience in reconciling payroll discrepancies and resolving employee payroll issues
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to make decisions under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Exceptional attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field
  • Certified Payroll detail oriented (CPP) certification is preferred
  • Knowledge of state and federal wage and hour laws
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
