Licensed Mental Health Provider
JOB SUMMARY:
Researchers at the Military Cardiovascular Outcomes Research (MiCOR) Program at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) are seeking a paid, part-time (hourly) licensed mental health provider to serve as a safety risk assessor for studies that evaluate psychological functioning among research participants.Risk assessments will be conducted remotely via telehealth software. This is a great opportunity for someone who has a flexible schedule during the weekdays, and who may be interested in becoming more familiar with behavioral and biomedical research.
The start date is in November/Early December of 2024.
The successful applicant will have variable but pre-scheduled ‘on-call’ time windows, with an expected weekly commitment of approximately 10 hours. The mental health provider may be contacted by a research assessor to conduct a safety evaluation and complete associated documentation for adolescent or adult research participants who endorse safety-related concerns (e.g., active suicidal ideation, or self-harm).Compensation is competitive.
The MiCOR program exists as a cooperative agreement between the Defense Health Agency of the Department of Defense and the F. Edward Hébert School of Medicine of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) in Bethesda, Maryland.
MiCOR is a multidisciplinary program that integrates expertise from fields including psychology, cardiology, pharmacology, and metabolic disorders, among others. The program supports behavioral and biomedical research in active-duty personnel, retirees, and their dependents, as well as in civilians.Broadly, studies address many physiological and psychological risk factors for poor cardiometabolic health.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Complete necessary onboarding documentation and procedures
- Complete brief, standard training in research and clinical best practices and safeguards
- Following procedures for specific study protocols, conduct participant safety evaluations as necessary during scheduled on-call time windows,
- Complete necessary documentation following safety evaluations, and communicate as needed with key members of the research team
COMPENSATION: $150 - $250 hourly

Minimum Education/Training Requirements: A master's or doctoral level clinical degree, with associated licensure in Maryland, Virginia, or Washington DC.
Work Environment: Remote; possible evening and/or weekend hours.
