Primary Therapist - Headwaters Program
The Primary Therapist provides individual, family, and group therapy, crisis intervention, and consultation services. In this role, you will collaborate with other staff members to ensure patients receive the best care possible. The incumbent must be able to work Tuesday through Saturday, including one late shift (11:00 AM—7:00 PM).
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Directs therapeutic activities following directions from the Clinical Director or designee.
- Coordinates alcohol and drug use treatment services with the Clinical Director or designee.
- Completes duties in a professional and timely manner.
- Reports all alleged incidents of abuse or neglect following all state standards and accrediting bodies.
- Ensures all records are accurate and timely, following Hanley Foundation policies.
- Ensures that all records are available for all state and accrediting bodies staff inspection.
- Initiates social service assessments of clients, including gathering social histories and other required treatment documentation.
- Provides and communicates aftercare recommendations to clients, family members, and the Continuum of Care department.
- Trains staff, volunteers, and students under supervision as part of an internship from a university or college degree program.
- Ensures that all relevant information is provided to the client, the parents, or the client's managing conservator regularly and at least weekly.
- Coordinates with the Clinical Director to ensure consistency of treatment.
- Conducts intakes and screenings on potential clients.
- Conducts assessments.
- Develop client treatment plans.
- Create discharge summaries and aftercare recommendations.
- Facilitate groups and lectures for clients.
- Conduct individual counseling sessions regularly and at least weekly for clients on caseload.
- Responsible for client case management issues as they relate to substance abuse treatment delivery.
- Responsible for general documentation of client records on caseload.
- Attend staff meetings as scheduled and as needed.
- Be an integral part of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
- Protects client's rights.
- Uphold all Hanley Foundation Policies and Procedures.
- Maintain client/potential client confidentiality following Hanley Policy.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge, experience, and competence in the specific areas of adult treatment, adult co-morbid complications, and family systems theory.
- Must be computer literate and be familiar with most Microsoft products and network components.
- Must have fluid communication skills that foster teamwork and high morale.
- Must possess a high degree of organizational skills.
- Must be thoroughly familiar with and be able to demonstrate knowledge of the principles and programs of the various 12-step fellowships.
Education/Experience/Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in the area of Human Services and licensure within the area of discipline required.
- Trauma-informed Care certification is required.
- A minimum of three to five (3 -5) years of experience working in a substance abuse treatment facility is required.
- Work experience in a 12-step immersion program is preferred.
- If in recovery, one (1) year of continuous sobriety is required.
