Marine Underwriter - New York

Responsibilities:

*This position is open to multiple U.S. locations. Preferably near a U.S. HW Kaufman office location.*

We are looking for candidates with an entrepreneurial spirit, drive for career advancement and desire to develop relationships. The candidate will play a critical role in driving the growth and profitability of our ocean marine liability business.

  • Maintain and grow a book of ocean marine liability business including Hull/P&I, Primary Marine Liability, and Excess Marine Liability as part of the RB Jones Marine team
  • Manage and develop broker relationships
  • Produce new business as well as maintain a book of renewal business
  • Prequalify accounts and utilize underwriting acumen to select sound marine risks
  • Underwrite, rate, quote and bind, profitable new and renewal marine business to meet goals in agreement with underwriting guidelines and underwriting authority
  • Regular national travel as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 3 years of marine underwriting experience required
  • Wholesale, MGA or carrier experience preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in sales and marketing
  • Proven organization skills and ability with a strong attention to detail
  • Interest in continued education and professional development
  • Insurance license, CPCU, CIC, AMIM or comparable designations preferred
