Assistant Vice President, Investment Credit Risk

UNFCU's Corporate Investment Department is responsible for managing UNFCU's proprietary securities portfolio. In this executive role, the AVP will manage the entire investment credit analysis process for UNFCU’s investment exposures in the US municipal, bank and corporate sectors, while also conducting written analysis on individual existing or potential credit exposures.Track and monitor existing holdings and evaluate potential investments in order to ensure the soundness and profitability of the overall investment function. Serve as an advisor to the portfolio management team in the area of credit risk management and credit trends and manage a team of credit analysts.
This position is expected to be hybrid.
NYC Salary Range - $159,030 - $200,000 annually; compensation is commensurate to geographic location.
What you'll do:

- Maintain the review schedule for all investment and business partner exposures, while fairly allocating assignments between oneself and the analyst team
- Ensure all existing investment credit exposures are reviewed on-time and in the appropriate frequency
- Review, analyze, and monitor existing and potential municipal/state credit exposures (general obligation and revenue authority) through the use of financial statements, budget disclosures, ratio analysis, and local economic and demographic data
- Review, analyze, and monitor existing and potential corporate and bank investment exposures through the use of financial statements, ratio analysis, and market research
- Provide summary reviews of potential new municipal, bank and/or corporate exposures that may require extremely tight turnaround times (e.g., less than 1 hour)
- Prepare thorough and concise written credit opinions and summaries covering liquidity, capitalization, profitability, market developments, and news regarding particular industries and/or credits
- Continuously improve the entire credit surveillance process in order to gain additional efficiencies and further insights, and introduce additional credit and financial metrics to written analysis when necessary
- Interact with outside traders or analysts as needed, and regularly review external credit and economic research and news
What we're seeking:
- Bachelor’s degree and/or advanced degree in finance, accounting, economics or public administration; MBA or masters in finance, accounting, or economics a plus
- 7-10 years’ work experience with at least 5 years in a supervisory/managerial capacity, plus developed skills in the appropriate competencies
- Required relevant work experience includes a track record of producing written credit analysis and research in the municipal, bank and/or corporate sectors
- Experience in reviewing, interpreting, and summarizing issuer financial reports and disclosures
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and GASB financial accounting standards
- Knowledge and familiarity in identifying and calculating key financial ratios
- Proficient knowledge of Bloomberg
