Mandarin Language Immersion Teacher (2312179)

Teach grades 1-5 at East Point Academys elementary school, with a focus on Mandarin Chinese language immersion through the teaching of traditional elementary school subjects. Provide bilingual instruction to students, in English and Chinese, individually and in groups, using various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations.
Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate these objectives to students. Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests. Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students.
Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities. Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health. Confer with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators to aid students in academic and personal progress, and to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems.

Applicant must have demonstrated experience with: Must have native-level fluency in written and spoken mandarin Chinese, and be able to impart an appreciation and understanding of Chinese culture and history. Must have prior exposure to education of children in mandarin, and must possess ability to teach and communicate at an age-appropriate level for grade school children.Exposure acquired during or as part of education curriculum, student teaching, or through volunteer activities is acceptable. Must be eligible to teach for a public or charter school in the state of SC.
