3pm - 11:30pm/ Full Time/ 40 Hours
Salary rate -$17/hr
We're seeking a Sterile Processing Trainee for Emory University Hospital, responsible for being a capable certified technician who cares about the quality of their work an ensuring the safety and care for all patients.
This individual will:
- Under the direction of a preceptor/trainer, responsible to learn the basics of decontamination, instrumentation, identification, sterilization concepts and preparation of Operating Room Case Carts. Receive, unload, sort, inspect, wash and process instruments and equipment for decontamination both manually and by automated means.
- Fill Operating Room case cart requisitions for scheduled next day cases, add-on cases and STAT cases with instruments, linen, stainless steel items, soft good supplies, etc.
- Wrap and label stainless steel items.
- Utilize the SPM Surgical Instrument Management tracking system to track instruments and case carts, provide information on instrument set assembly, etc.
- Inventory and restock reprocessed sterile items in sterile storage areas. Operate and perform daily maintenance of washer-disinfectors, cart washer and cart elevators.
- Process all surgical case carts through the cart washer after each use, process case carts as specified and return all carts to designated areas. Unload washer-disinfector racks of decontaminated instruments and stainless steel items and place in designated areas.
- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School or GED, preferred. Must commit to enroll in a Sterile Processing Technician Certification program.
- Upon Completion of Sterile Processing Trainee program must complete certification within 6 months.
- Computer skills preferred. Must have the ability to read, comprehend and follow simple verbal instructions. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, including decimals and fractions.
