Overview:
Milton CAT has a great opportunity for a motivated, customer-service oriented Mechanical Engineer to join our Industrial/Marine team. Our successful Mechanical Engineer is organized and ambitious, with a passion for “owning” their part of the business and providing exceptional service to our customers.Demonstrated and successful project management experience is desired for this position.
The Mechanical Engineer Designs, analyzes, and maintains mechanical components and systems to meet specified requirements and standards. Utilizes technical instruments to develop specifications for new parts, modifications, or prototypes. Identifies appropriate materials and processes to ensure the quality, performance, and manufacturability of products.Utilizes 3D modeling (SolidWorks) as well as 2D CAD (AutoCad) software and other design and modeling tools to plan, develop, and improve mechanical parts or components and communicate conceptual designs and specifications to stakeholders. Conducts prototype testing to evaluate the performance, reliability, and safety of mechanical systems and collects and analyzes data for improvements.
Analyzes and troubleshoots mechanical issues with fabricated vendor supplied materials for failures to identify root causes and develop solutions. The Mechanical Engineer will work independently and as part of a larger team to provide comprehensive management of the construction and sale of new compression ignition (CI) drive packages (up to 1200 HP) from receipt of purchase order through delivery and installation.

Pay Rate: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00/year based on location, education and experience. This is a bonus eligible position.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the services from suppliers, fabricators, sales staff and service technicians.
- Maintain responsibility for all technical deliverables and ensure the financial health of each project ensuring gross profit levels budgeted for each project are realized.
- Manage the assembly and construction of engine power modules for various customers and industries, predominantly Industrial applications.
- Perform occasional projects supporting engine repowers and other projects as assigned.
- Promote teamwork by supporting our entire Industrial/Marine group, including providing design assistance on various non-industrial applications including Marine propulsion, Hybrid drive systems, and Electrical Power Generation projects.
- Schedule, support, and perform installation audits on new engine sales in accordance with Caterpillar product application guidelines.
- Exercise strong problem-solving abilities and collaboration with multiple parties to work through technical and financial issues.
- Schedule and dispatch Caterpillar and non-Caterpillar services in a timely manner as needed.
- Identify, document and report product issues and help identify root causes that affect customer satisfaction, productivity and/or operations; report product/quality issues to the factory and track progress to final resolution.
- Perform on-site job review and attendance of services.
- Assess and provide input to service management on service equipment, tooling, procedural, and technician training needs.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years experience in a related industry, particularly with large rotating equipment
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience is required.
- Must be self-motivated and team oriented, capable of managing time, flexing on priorities for multiple projects, and operating well under pressure with little supervision
- Technical, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities
- Strong problem-solving and customer service skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to present information clearly to customers
- Able to clearly and concisely express technical information (or data) to non-technical associates, peers and senior management
- Proficient with Solidworks, AutoCad, MS Applications and able to quickly learn new technology
