Certified Payroll Specialist – Payroll and Benefits Administrator
Overview:
An excellent opportunity has opened for a Certified Payroll Specialist with expertise in payroll management and benefits administration. The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and benefits reconciliation.You must be able to work on-site 5 days a week, with a total of 7 hours per day (35 hours a week).
This role is integral to supporting payroll operations for a workforce of 60 employees and delivering accurate reporting to management. We're looking for a seasoned professional with a focus on compliance, efficiency, and precision.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing:
Administer payroll for 60 employees, including both salaried and hourly staff.
Calculate payroll adjustments, leaves of absence, and final wages for terminations in compliance with California labor laws.
Manage payroll calculations for bonuses, wage garnishments, and 401(k) contributions.
Regulatory Compliance and Tax Reporting:
Ensure accurate and timely preparation of payroll tax forms, including 941 reports, W-2s, and 1095 compliance documentation.
Maintain strict adherence to state and federal labor laws and payroll regulations.
Be proficient in deadlines, end-of-year payroll reporting, and reconciliation with general ledgers (GLs).
Benefits Administration:
Manage benefit invoices and support employee enrollment or adjustment processes.
Reconcile employee benefits with payroll systems.
Technology and Reporting:
Utilize Paychex systems for payroll processing and reporting.
Provide detailed reports to management as needed, such as payroll summaries, tax reporting, and compliance updates.
Collaboration:
Work closely with finance and HR teams to align payroll with organizational policies.
Serve as the point person for employee payroll-related inquiries.
Top Qualifications and Skills:
Certification: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) Certificate is highly preferred.Experience: At least 10 years of payroll experience, particularly in California.
Software Expertise: Proficiency in Paychex payroll systems.
Regulatory Knowledge: Solid understanding of payroll compliance, including tax reporting (941s, W-2s), 401(k) administration, and wage garnishments.
Analytical Skills: Strong background in payroll calculations, GL reconciliation, and benefits administration
