Legal Admin/Clerk US Federal Agency (Chicago, IL)
We are looking for an Admin/Clerk for a US Federal Agency (U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board) to manage administrative functions, perform data entry, and handle other office duties. Experience as an Admin for legal teams is required.
This is a 6 month contract (extensions likely) 40 hour/week onsite at the agency's office in Chicago, IL.
This is a w2 role with Stage 4 Solutions, health benefits, and 401K offered.
Responsibilities:
- Receives incoming telephone calls and visitors, determines the nature of business, and refers calls to the appropriate staff member.
- Assist with receipt and distribution of incoming mail for the agency.
- Create, organize, and tab paper files, indexes, and other documents
- Data entry and typing on a personal computer.
- Use a variety of office equipment in conducting the work of the office, including but not limited to personal computers, fax machine, copy machine, mail equipment, and scanner, etc.
- Communicate with court reporters and external customers to schedule telephone conferences and in-person and video hearings.
- Initiate inquiries regarding case processing and respond to appeal inquiries on behalf of the Administrative Judge (AJ) of the office.
- Responds to the public, appellants, and their representatives, concerning potential, pending, and past appeals and general Board procedures at the direction of the Supervisory Paralegal Specialist
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience as an Admin for legal firms, legal teams within companies or government agencies
- Experience with commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in the Legal field
