Position Overview:

The Associate Director, Accounting will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of accounting functions, financial reporting, and analysis. This position will work cross-functionally with members of our organization, including but not limited to human resources, legal, clinical operations, and manufacturing, as well as external auditors and tax preparers, to ensure the accuracy, transparency, and timeliness of financial data and support our clinical and IND-stage programs.

This is a full-time position and may be performed remotely from any location within the continental U.S. The position will report to the Corporate Controller.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Monthly, quarterly and year-end close process and management reporting of results, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of financial results.
  • Ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with US GAAP in a timely manner and prepare technical accounting memos as necessary.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to accurately track and report clinical trial expenses.
  • Manage the coordination of audits with external auditors and resolve any issues that arise.
  • Responsible for maintenance of complex accounting transactions and significant estimates.
  • Oversee outsourced accounting service provider and processes.
  • Assist with external audit, tax and financial reporting activities.
  • Assist with processing of annual 1099s, accounts payable processing.
  • Collaborate with in-house legal on timely preparation and filing of SEC reports including 10-Ks, 10-Qs, 8-Ks and Proxy.
  • Develop, implement and maintain robust internal control policies and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy and SOX compliance.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings for a publicly traded company.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • 6-7 years of progressive experience in a life sciences company and/or in Public Accounting supporting life sciences companies.
  • Hold a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Experience working with a publicly traded company is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting for life science companies, including SEC filings.
  • Strong management skills and ability to lead teams with diverse backgrounds.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across functions and present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Experience with financial systems and tools and process improvement.
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and compliance.

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work remotely is $160,000-$190,000 per year. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry, education, etc.
