The Executive Business Office staff provide operational support for all units within the executive management organization.

The Office of the Chancellor units supported by the Executive Business Office include the Chancellor's official residence, Tierney University House; the Office of Campus Counsel; the Office Equal Opportunity and Diversity; and the Office of the Chancellor.

The Office of the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor includes the Office of Inclusive Excellence; Institutional Research, Assessment, and Planning; the Office of Academic Personnel; the Office of the Ombuds; the Academic Senate; the Institute and Museum of California Art; the Division of Career Pathways; the Office of Sustainability; and the Office of Global Engagement; and Strategic Communications.

Responsibilities:

Under general supervision of the Senior Payroll and Operations Analyst and as part of the Executive Business Office, the Payroll & Operations Analyst is responsible for payroll, timekeeping, purchasing, cost-benefit studies, and maintaining all policies, procedures, practices.

The incumbent supports several units with coordinated financial, payroll, and operational support from the Executive Business Office. The Analyst works independently and assignments vary among different functions, such as payroll, timekeeping, purchasing, financial services, resource/space, etc.

As a representative of units under executive management, uses professional and courteous interpersonal, verbal, and written skills to establish and maintain productive relationships with all levels of university administration, faculty, staff and students, distinguished guests, and a diverse public constituency with the utmost tact and diplomacy appropriate to the office.

Uses professional financial services concepts. Applies organization policies and procedures to resolve a variety of moderately complicated issues. Works on payroll and financial services problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $28.07- $33.94 (Hourly).

Required:

  • Ability to apply policies and procedures to standard work processes
  • Proficiency in the use of spreadsheet and database software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, analytical skills, service orientation, active listening, critical thinking, attention to detail, ability to multi-task in a high volume environment, organizational skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, sound judgment and decision making.
  • Ability to function effectively as a member of a team.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Exposure to payroll or financial concepts.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in an office environment.

Preferred:

  • Working knowledge of financial processes, policies and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of financial data management and reporting systems.
  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
  • Proficiency in payroll processing in an enterprise system.
  • Proficiency in PeopleSoft or UC PATH.
