Job Description:

Spectrum Healthcare Resources is excited to announce a potential opportunity for a Certified Medical Dosimetrist to join our team in supporting Radiation Oncology Services at the Tibor Rubin VA Medical Center, Long Beach, CA.

Requirements:

  • Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD), certified by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of continuous work experience in medical dosimetry within the last three (3) years.
  • Experience in the following areas:
  • Two (2) years of experience in performing QA procedures.
  • One (1) year of experience in a healthcare system that is ACR/APEx certified.
  • One (1) year of experience with Varian Linear Accelerators, including TrueBeam with Brain Lab and Rapid Arc (or equivalent).
  • One (1) year of experience with Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT), including Cone Beam CT (following standards of TG-142).
  • One (1) year of experience with Eclipse treatment planning system and ARIA record & verify system, including treatment modalities:
  • Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS)
  • Stereotactic Radiotherapy (SRT)
  • Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT)
  • Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) (following standards of TG-53).
  • One (1) year of experience with MapCheck and ArcCheck (or equivalent).
  • One (1) year of experience with GE Discovery CT Simulator (or equivalent).

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop treatment plans by means of computer and/or manual computation to ensure precise delivery of radiation in accordance with the VA Radiation Oncologist’s prescription.
  • Perform treatment planning in conjunction with the Contractor’s Medical Physicist for SRS/SRT, HDR brachytherapy, IMRT, and IGRT.
  • Be present during patient treatment for HDR brachytherapy.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of radiation dose distributions and treatment techniques in accordance with the VA Radiation Oncologist’s prescription.
  • Assist in treatment simulations and tumor localization using dedicated imaging modalities, including CT and MRI.
  • Assist in planning and oversee fabrication of compensating filters, custom shields, wedges, and other beam-modifying devices.
  • Supervise and oversee production of molds, casts, and immobilization devices for accurate and reproducible patient positioning.
  • Perform calculations for radiation delivery, ensuring mathematical accuracy and documentation in patient files under the supervision of the Medical Physicist.
  • Provide dosimetry and technical support for radiation protection, machine calibration, and quality assurance activities related to radiation therapy equipment.
  • Assist in the application of dosimetry methods, including ion chamber, TLD, or film measurements as directed by the Contractor’s Medical Physicist.

Work Schedule & Hours:

  • Part-Time Position (0.25 FTE) - 10 Hours Per Week
  • Workdays: Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays.
  • Shifts: 8-hour shifts within standard duty hours of 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM (local time zone), flexible scheduling possible based on operational needs.
