Public Senior Accountant

We are offering a long term contract employment opportunity for a Public Senior Accountant. The role involves a range of responsibilities within the field of accounting, with a particular focus on Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance. The successful individual will be part of a team, working in a fast-paced environment and will be expected to handle various accounting functions.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure adherence to all aspects of SOX and evaluate the efficacy of internal controls over financial reporting.
• Prepare and review documentation related to SOX, including process flowcharts and risk and control matrices.
• Identify control deficiencies and propose remedial actions.
• Oversee activities related to month-end and year-end closing.
• Prepare financial statements and reports, ensuring they are compliant with company covenants and deadlines.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
• Perform general ledger accounting, financial analysis, and reporting on a day-to-day basis.
• Manage assets and maintain the depreciation schedule.
• Assist in all audit functions and collaborate with external auditors for annual audits and tax filings.
• Facilitate the timely completion of monthly financial statements for reporting to stakeholders.
• Contribute to departmental efficiencies, innovation, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Undertake special accounting-related projects as required.
• Leverage skills in Accounting Software Systems, Accounting Functions, Auditing, and SOX - Sarbanes-Oxley to perform duties effectively.
• Possesses a minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior accountant role or similar position.
• Demonstrates proficiency in Accounting Software Systems.
• Holds comprehensive knowledge of Accounting Functions.
• Has experience with Auditing procedures and principles.
• Familiarity with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) and its implications for public accounting.
• Exhibits excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential is preferred.
• Demonstrates high levels of integrity and professionalism.
• Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
