Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

UCI Health is seeking an experienced Systems Architect to lead a team to design, implement, and support enterprise solutions with a primary focus on End User Computing (EUC) and a secondary emphasis on Epic EMR. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in driving the technology strategy for our healthcare environment by ensuring seamless operation and support of EUC devices, while also supporting Epic EMR workflows.

This is a vital position aimed at enhancing patient care through innovative technology solutions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Thorough understanding of operating system internals, file systems, functions of hardware components, and how hardware and software components work together to form a computer system.
  • Thorough understanding of infrastructure management including but not limited to: Active Directory, Group Policies, Hypervisor platforms, remote application deployment, and incident management.
  • Thorough understanding of clinical systems such as patient registration, patient accounting, EMRs, or electronic medication administration
  • Technical understanding of both wired and wireless networking, including: DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VPN, Ethernet/802.3, and Wireless/802.11
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge, and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills appropriate to the job.
  • Must carry a phone and provide on-call support for IT related issues.
  • Must be willing and able to work occasional weekends and evenings as needed
  • Familiar with scripting and programming languages
  • Extensive understanding of the Microsoft 365 ecosystem including collaboration and communication.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry supporting EMR preferred. Epic ECSA 101 Certification or similar Epic certification is required within 6 months of the start date. This includes the 3rd party required certification as well. (List of certifications is available from Epic, includes common Microsoft, VMWare, Nutanix and Citrix certifications).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective customer service, documentation, and communication with vendors
  • Epic ECSA 102 Certification or similar Epic certification is required within 12 months of the start date.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing and supporting EUC environments, including Windows, MacOS, and mobile platforms.
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to independently solve technical issues.
  • 7 years of experience in system administration, at least 3 years in a systems architect or principal systems administration role with emphasis in EUC.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of application virtualization and user experience/profile abstraction.
  • Working knowledge of Virtual Desktop technologies such as VMware Horizon.
  • Working knowledge of Thin client and other terminal related technologies
  • Working knowledge of Citrix related technologies
  • Network+
