Staff Accountant

We are inviting applications for a Staff Accountant to join our team in Ames, Iowa. This role is primarily focused on managing all accounting functions for a portfolio of multifamily rental properties. The job involves data analysis, cash position management, preparation of monthly financial statements, and administrative duties.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately record transactions in compliance with our requirements and applicable accounting principles.
• Oversee the cash position of the portfolio, including bill payments, bank reconciliations, and cash position analysis for each property.
• Independently prepare monthly financial statements for accurate reporting of each property’s financial position.
• Carry out various financial and accounting analyses.
• Execute administrative duties and other necessary tasks.
• Ensure efficient processing of customer credit applications.
• Maintain precise customer credit records.
• Monitor customer accounts and take appropriate action.
• Use skills such as Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, Journal Entries, Month End Close, Property Accounting, and Financial Statement Preparation. • Proficient in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) operations
• Demonstrated ability to perform Bank Reconciliations
• Familiarity with General Ledger management
• Proven experience in preparing and posting Journal Entries
• Expertise in handling Month End Close procedures
• Knowledge of Property Accounting principles
• Capability to prepare Financial Statements
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Familiarity with accounting software and systems
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations
• Experience in a similar role is preferred
