OUR MISSION:

Family Reach is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to removing the financial barriers standing between cancer patients and their treatment — such as loss of income, increased out-of-pocket expenses, and socioeconomic factors. When faced with these financial barriers, families have to make impossible decisions like choosing between paying for treatment or basic essentials like housing, food, and transportation.

No family should have to choose between their health and their home — and we won’t stop until that’s the reality.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Grants Manager will play a crucial role in supporting Family Reach’s foundation and corporate fundraising efforts by researching, preparing, and submitting grant proposals, and tracking grant deliverables. This role requires strong writing, organizational, and project management skills to ensure timely and high-quality submissions that align with Family Reach’s mission and program initiatives.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Development & Communications, the Grants Manager will manage deadlines, maintain records, and ensure accurate tracking in Salesforce. This position will collaborate closely with the internal teams to manage an efficient and effective process of gathering information for funding submissions, ensuring compliance with grant agreements, and maintaining an up-to-date grants index.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Grant Submission (Pre-award)
  • In collaboration with the Senior Director of Development & Communications, research, identify, and qualify potential grant funding opportunities from foundations and corporations.
  • Support the efforts of the Development Department and CEO in securing funding from family foundation offices that are a part of the major donor pipeline.
  • Draft proposals, letters of inquiry, and grant application narratives, and collaborate with internal teams (Programs, Finance, Data) to gather necessary information for funding submissions.
  • Manage and oversee the grant application process, ensuring all applications and supporting materials are submitted on time and meet the necessary criteria.
  • Ensure all grant-related information including deadlines, portal access information, PDFs of completed applications, and timelines are kept updated in Salesforce.
Grant Management (Post-award)
  • Track awarded grants and ensure deliverables, deadlines, and reporting requirements are kept updated in Salesforce.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Development Operations to ensure timely submission of reports, data, and required deliverables.
Collaboration & Departmental Support
  • Working in collaboration with the members of the Development, Communications and Programs teams, the Grants Manager will ensure that the grants index is kept up-to-date with current data, organization information, and narratives related to each of our program initiatives and proposals.
  • Support the Development Department with researching and creating summaries on major donor prospects to include in Salesforce records.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in grant writing and proposal management
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Superior writing, oral communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Salesforce or other CRM experience is required
  • Familiarity with Inside Philanthropy, Candid, or other grants research databases required
  • Familiarity with wealth screening research tools such as iWave or DonorSearch preferred.
  • Solutions-oriented; eager for ongoing learning and self-improvement in the role
  • Experience in working collaboratively with colleagues from varied backgrounds and interacting with stakeholders of diverse backgrounds, views, and positions
  • Passion for Family Reach’s mission
