Lutheran Haven is seeking a Dietary Aide/Server to join our team. In this role, one can expect to facilitate food service for Nursing Home and Assisted Living Facility residents, including but not limited to assisting in the kitchen and dining room, filling special requests from residents, and fostering positive relationships with residents and other teammates.
The Dietary Aide/Server may be directed by the Cook, Dietary Director, Dietitian, Production Manager, and/or the Administrator.
Job Duties:
- Actively supports Lutheran Haven’s Mission and Ministry.
- Demonstrates a willingness to be an effective team member by fostering positive relationships with teams and residents.
- Serve and collect meal trays to/from residents at their eating place.
- Fill any special requests from residents as each table is served.
- Accurately answer questions the residents may have about the meal.
- After meal service clear and sanitize the tables.
- Set/re-set tables with table covers/placemats, eating utensils wrapped in the napkin, and glassware. Refill salt, pepper, sugar and cracker and any other condiment containers.
- Assist in the dish room with dishes.
- Maintain standards of sanitation and housekeeping daily completing cleaning tasks as outlined on the Cleaning Checklist. Clean as you go.
- Label and date all food stuffs. Stock when delivered and again when opened.
- Work effectively with other department staff members during special events in the dining room that may change the routine.
- Prepare and deliver beverages daily to resident rooms.
- May record resident intake amounts using basic math and computer skills.
- Attends mandatory in-services.
- May provide meals to independent living residents as required.
- Participates in safety and emergency drills and follows established protocol in the case of an emergency.
- Assures that established infection control and universal precautions are maintained when performing duties.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must possess, as a minimum, a 10th grade education.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language well enough to effectively communicate with supervisors and residents while on duty.
- Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift and move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Must possess the ability to follow written and oral instructions, and to accept constructive criticism.
- Must possess the ability to provide service to personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public.
- Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of dietary areas.
- Must adapt to flexible working conditions, possess personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with the residents, family members and other staff members.
- Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, and elderly people.
- Must have the ability to operate department equipment according to standard procedures.
- Must be able to successfully complete all assigned job duties in the timeframe outlined by supervisor, with direction from supervisor when necessary.
- Honor Resident’s Rights policies at all times.
- Maintain confidentiality of all resident information according to HIPAA policies and procedures.
- Be expected (and required) to perform any task in a safe, sanitary and efficient manner in accordance with established procedures.
- Be familiar with universal precautions.
