Structural Project Manager
Overview:
ABOUT THE POSITION
This role involves managing and delivering bridge-focused transportation projects from initial design to completion. The Senior Structural Project Manager will lead project teams, oversee budgets, ensure project milestones are met, and act as the primary liaison between clients, subcontractors, and the project team.This position requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and business development skills to manage complex structural engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble and lead project teams, assign responsibilities, and procure necessary resources.
- Monitor budgets, project schedules, and overall financial outcomes.
- Prepare preliminary and final design documents for transportation bridge projects.
- Provide technical oversight, staff mentoring, and professional development within the team.
- Lead structural engineering efforts, including bridge design and construction phasing.
- Conduct business development activities as needed.
- Develop transportation studies, design reports, final design documents, and contract plans in conformity with AASHTO and DOT standards.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong technical proficiency in structural engineering and bridge design.
- Exceptional verbal presentation and technical writing skills.
- Detail-oriented, quality-focused, and motivated to lead a team.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Experience with design platforms like AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation V8, and Open Bridge Designer.
Qualifications:
- 15+ years of experience in civil or structural engineering, with a focus on bridge design.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (structural emphasis preferred). A master's degree may substitute for 1-2 years of experience.
- Extensive experience with bridge projects and North Carolina DOT standards preferred.
- Supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
