Associate Attorney
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Employment Litigation Associate to join a CA-based law firm with multiple offices around the state.
You will play a key role in all aspects of employment litigation matters, from pre-trial discovery to trial or arbitration. This is a great opportunity for an associate attorney with a strong work ethic and a passion for advocating for clients in the area of employment law.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research on complex employment law issues.
- Draft and prepare motions, pleadings, and legal memoranda.
- Take and defend depositions, or at minimum, assist with deposition preparation and strategy.
- Manage all aspects of discovery, including document requests, interrogatories, and witness subpoenas.
- Draft position statements for administrative agencies like the EEOC and DFEH.
- Conduct witness interviews and depositions.
- Participate in mediations, arbitrations, and trials (as applicable).
- Stay up-to-date on current developments in employment law.
^^^ Pay is contingent upon prior years of experience and fluency handling these responsibilities independently.
Work Environment:
- Regular business hours, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, with some flexibility.
- On site in San Diego (downtown) 3x/week.

Must-haves:
- J.D. degree from an accredited law school.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in employment litigation in CA.
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Proficient in legal case management software - this firm is very tech-forward
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience with taking and defending depositions is a plus.
- Experience with FLSA and wage and hour claims, including class and collective actions is a plus.
- Experience with discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims is a plus.
