Expanded Learning Literacy Specialist (Richmond)
We are seeking a committed and passionate Expanded Learning Literacy Instructor to lead a gender specific curriculum to girls in kindergarten through third grade as part of our East Bay Expanded Learning Programs. As a Literacy Instructor you will work with afterschool site coordinators and school district personnel to deliver top quality academic, enrichment and recreational services to students during the after-school hours, five days a week throughout the school year.

- Pay rate: $21 per hour
- Hours: 25 hours per week

- Schedule: Monday through Friday, afternoons until 6 p.m.; Off holidays, summers, and weekends

- Must have an (a) Associate Degree or higher, or (b) 48 or more college units, or (c) High School Diploma or GED and pass Instructional Aide exam
- Must pass criminal background check
- Must provide negative TB clearance
- Classroom experience a plus
- Available Monday through Friday 23 hours per week, afternoons until 6 pm
- Work Hours: Monday- Friday 1pm-6pm
- Ability to reliably commute to Richmond
- Commitment to social justice and leadership
- Passionate about learning and youth development: K-12
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
- Familiarity with teaching literacy concepts
Preferred:
- Commitment to a full school year, able to practice open, clear and consistent communication, commitment to participate in professional development
Responsibilities:
- Support and maintain a safe and emotionally supportive environment
- Create, plan, and execute lesson plans that support school day learning
- Collaborate with youth to support their learning and development (youth-driven curriculum)
