Responsibilities:
NV5, is seeking a Transportation Engineer/Planning Intern for the Summer 2025 at our Alpharetta, GA and Cary, NC offices. The internship is designed to expose upcoming graduates to the field of civil engineering and transportation planning as well as the dynamic culture and opportunities within NV5.This individual will provide support to the entire Traffic Services group in areas of traffic studies, signal studies, transportation plans, parking plans, traffic signal design, timing, safety studies, and the like. Your responsibilities will include conducting comparison and validation analyses with existing traffic counts and developing data inputs for travel demand models.
Additionally, you will assist with basic traffic data collection and contribute to technical reporting. Familiarity with GIS systems is beneficial, as you will conduct research and handle various ad-hoc assignments as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Research public sector requirements for traffic studies
- Collect traffic data via publicly available sources and field visits
- Analyze traffic data using Microsoft Excel.
- Perform traffic analyses using HCS, Synchro, MicroStation, VISSIM, SIDRA
- Utilize GIS systems for research and data analysis
- Writing and assisting in technical report preparation
- Handle various ad-hoc assignments as needed
Qualifications:
- Must be a rising college junior or senior studying civil engineering or enrolled in a Master's degree program in Planning
- Excellent writing skills
- Ability to research regulations that impact transportation and development
- Excellent writing skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Exposure to HCS, Synchro and AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is a plus
