Pay Rate: Based on experience
Work Hours: M-F, 8am-5pm
Education: Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science

Description
As an IT Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and improving the IT-related software and control systems that support manufacturing processes in our client's Optical Fiber manufacturing plant. This will involve working closely with engineering and operations teams to ensure that automated control systems and user interfaces run reliably in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.You'll also be tasked with developing or modifying software systems that support manufacturing operations, including web-based or stand-alone applications.
You will become the expert in the process controls system in your assigned area and will lead or participate in projects aimed at optimizing and improving processes, equipment, and control systems. This includes integrating systems, troubleshooting, and training production associates and engineers.You will also contribute to capital projects and be part of the weekend production support team, rotating approximately every 5-6 weeks.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Assist a team of engineers in providing production support and troubleshooting for 24/7 manufacturing operations.
- Work directly with production associates, technicians, and engineers to ensure reliable equipment operation via automated control systems and user interfaces.
- Support ongoing process and product optimization efforts, developing and implementing innovative solutions to technical problems.
- Provide training to engineers and production associates on new processes, equipment, or control systems.
- Lead or participate in capital projects to improve manufacturing processes.
- Serve on the weekend production support team approximately every 5-6 weeks.
Required Skills:
- Strong computer programming skills, particularly in C.
- Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems, PLC programming, or industrial automation systems.
- Proficiency in C# and VB.Net.
- Experience with iFIX or equivalent SCADA software.
- Knowledge of Visual Basic 6, C++.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with OPC UA, classic OPC, EtherNet/IP, and similar industrial protocols.
- Ability to integrate computers into manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Solid troubleshooting and debugging skills, with the ability to interpret and resolve issues from both engineering and operations teams.
- Experience with low-voltage electrical circuitry troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of REST API and web applications.
- Familiarity with relational databases such as Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server, MSMQ, and XML.
- Ability to be on-call during off-hours on a rotational basis.
Soft Skills:
- Experience working with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), preferably Camstar or similar platforms.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment, providing support for IT control systems across multiple plants.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with engineering, operations, and production teams.
- Ability to lead and mentor team members to accomplish plant goals and objectives.
Travel Requirements: Minimal travel (0-10%)
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
Years of Experience:- 10 years of relevant experience.
