Network Engineer - Email Gateway Administration (Hybrid)

Overview:

  • Tier One Technologies is hiring a Network Engineer with Email Gateway Administration experience and Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) certification for our direct US Government client.
  • This remote Contract-to-Hire position will be located in Raleigh, NC.
  • Must have a Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) certification.
  • SELECTED CANDIDATES WITHOUT REQUIRED CLEARANCE WILL BE SUBJECT TO A FEDERAL GOVERNMENT BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION TO RECEIVE IT.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assistance and advice on complex activities.
  • Formulate/define specifications, develop/modify/maintain complex systems and subsystems, using vendor engineering releases and utilities for overall operational systems.
  • Apply analytical techniques when gathering information from users, defining work problems, designing technology solutions, and developing procedures to resolve the problems.
  • Develop complete specifications to enable computer programmers to prepare required programs.
  • Review task proposal requirements, gather information, analyze data, prepare project synopses and specifications.
  • Administer Broadcom/Symantec Messaging Gateway.
  • Configure, administer, document custom policies for email administration.
  • Maintain a high-level troubleshooting of network and application issues.
  • Adhere to strict Information Systems security guidelines in all cases.
  • Provide email Gateway Configuration - responsible for configuring and maintaining email systems, policies, and rules for email traffic filtering and monitoring.
  • Provide Security Management - responsible for ensuring email security by managing email gateway security, identifying and mitigating email threats such as phishing attacks, spam, and malware.
  • Provide Capacity Planning and Optimization - must monitor email traffic and identify bottlenecks, plan and optimize the email gateway infrastructure for maximum efficiency and performance throughput.
  • Provide Analytics and Monitoring - responsible for the regular monitoring, logging, and reporting to track metrics such as email traffic, performance, and email gateway availability to ensure that SLAs are met.

Qualifications:

  • A degree from an accredited College/University in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline is preferred. If the individual's degree is not in the applicable field, then 4 additional years of related experience is required.
  • 13+ years of experience in software development and/or related field.
  • Must have a Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) certification.
  • Must be able to obtain a Position of Public Trust Clearance
  • Broadcom/Symantec Mail Gateway experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of email systems, including Microsoft Exchange, Office 365, and other platforms.
  • Proficiency in administering email servers, including configuring and managing user accounts, distribution lists, and email policies.
  • Solid understanding of email protocols, such as SMTP, POP, and IMAP.
  • Familiarity with email security best practices, including spam filtering, antivirus protection, and encryption.
  • Experience in troubleshooting email issues, diagnosing and resolving problems.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to integrate email systems with other applications and platforms.
  • Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service.
  • Ability to oversee the efforts of direct reporting resources and/or be responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific job.
  • Broadcom SMG experience is a PLUS.
  • Network and Log Analytics is a PLUS.
  • Proficiency with application layer protocols – HTTP, SSH, SSL, etc. is a PLUS.
  • Must be able to obtain a Position of Public Trust Clearance.
  • Be able to pass a drug screening, criminal history, and credit checks.
  • Must be a US Citizen or have permanent residence status (Green Card).
  • Must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years.
  • Cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within the last five years. Military Service excluded. (Exception does not include military family members.)
