Job Description
The Sustaining Engineering Manager will report directly into the Engineering Manager and be responsible for:
- Lead and manage the Sustaining Engineering team to support existing electronic products through their entire lifecycle.
- Drive root cause analysis and resolution of product issues related to design, manufacturing, and field performance.
- Collaborate with design, quality, and manufacturing teams to implement design changes, component substitutions, and process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
- Lead efforts to improve product reliability, reduce production costs, and extend product life.
- Work with the supply chain and procurement teams to address component obsolescence, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing, quality, and customer service teams to resolve issues related to product performance or field failures.
- Lead cost reduction projects by identifying and implementing component or process changes that do not compromise product quality.
- Mentor and develop team members, providing guidance on technical challenges and career growth.

The Successful Applicant- Bachelors Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (Masters in Engineering or MBA is a plus)
- 6-10 years of experience in sustaining engineering
- 3-5+ years management experience
- Knowledge of continuous improvement, lean and six sigma tools (greenbelt preferred)
- Strong background in product lifecycle management
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain.
- Proven experience with root cause analysis, failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
- Strong project management skills, with experience leading complex projects to successful completion.
