IFC's Partnerships and Fundraising (CBFPF) unit is seeking an intern as part of our Global Internship Program (GIP). The Global Internship Program (GIP) offers highly motivated individuals an opportunity to be exposed to the mission and work of IFC and the broader World Bank Group and become part of the largest private sector development institution in the world.The program encourages individuals to bring new perspectives and innovative ideas to IFC's work, while improving skills in a diverse and highly stimulating environment. Moreover, the Global Internship Program provides a unique opportunity to exchange ideas and network with international professionals dedicated to ending extreme poverty and boosting prosperity in the developing world.
Duties and Accountabilities:
The Partnerships and Fundraising (CBFPF) unit within the Economics and Private Sector Development VPU supports IFC operations, both Investment and Upstream/Advisory Services, among others, by fundraising for IFC priority areas and maintaining ongoing relationships with development partners.Such partners include bilateral sovereign partners, multilateral agencies, foundations, and corporate philanthropies. Additionally, CBFPF facilitates and advises on establishing new relationships and fundraising initiatives with development partners.
The intern will be a key member of the LAC & Europe Team, contributing to creating and managing IFC's funding partnerships with governments and foundations operating in Latin America and the Caribbean Region & Europe. Duties will include:
- Support the development IFC's annual fundraising plan for LAC and contribute to IFC's corporate fundraising plan.
- Support corporate country driven budgeting exercise, funding needs assessments, corporate and other corporate initiatives and exercises from the LAC regional perspective.
- Coordinate and support securing internal (and relevant external) approval for trust fund allocations for projects in LAC.
- Develop PowerPoint presentations and other written materials, in coordination with a range of IFC teams, to be presented to partners.
- Work with IFC Communications and project teams to ensure adequate visibility is provided for projects supported by partner-supported trust funds.
- Contribute to preparation and execution of events and strategic consultations with key development partners at the country and regional levels (e.g., annual and semi-annual progress meetings).
- Prepare donor mapping for the LAC region and identify key areas of engagement aligned with IFC priorities in the region.
- Perform other duties and functions as assigned by the Team Leader and Associate Operations Officer.
- Candidates must be currently enrolled in a Master's degree level program
- Preferred field of study: Degree reflecting course work in areas relevant to IFC's role as a private-sector oriented development institution
- Minimum of 2 years of previous work experience
- Strong research, data collection, and analytics skills, including proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint
- Very good writing and communication skills in English required, knowledge of other languages (Spanish, Portuguese, French) is an asset
- Experience working with a wide range of stakeholders, NGOs, private sector international organizations, development partners, and/or government agencies will be an advantage
- Strong inter-personal skills. Ability to function effectively in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams
- Knowledge of SAP and Trust Fund agreements a plus
