Full-Time Employed Clinical Faculty (Primary Care) - Start July 1, 2025
We are particularly interested in candidates with some preclinical medical education experience. The position requires 3 days a week (24 hours) in-person and additional 8 hours for off campus work. Candidates with experience or ability to demonstrate interest in integrating the biomedical sciences into an innovative case-based, clinically oriented, system-based preclinical curriculum will be considered.
Knowledge and experience in Problem-Based, Case-based or Team-Based Learning are highly desirable.
Faculty members are integral to the preclinical curriculum development and delivery and will serve as Facilitators in Case-Based Learning (CBL), Clinical Skills, OSCE, OMM labs and Simulation Courses, as appropriate.
Please note that this is not a traditional teaching position. The curriculum features principles of self-directed learning, flipped classroom, minimal traditional lectures, spaced and spiraled learning. This is not a clinical position or related to third and fourth year clinical rotations.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The OCOM faculty member is a non-tenured position responsible for the education in predoctoral didactic, clinical educational programs, and graduate medical education programs. Faculty participate as Facilitators in student facing labs including: Anatomy Lab, CBL, Learning Consolidation, Clinical Skills, OSCE, Simulation courses and OMM as assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as a facilitator case based learning, clinical skills, OSCE, simulation, learning consolidation, OMM and other courses and activities as assigned by the department chair..
- Develop and participate in student directed learning and/or course material taught by the Department, Course or Lab.
- Serve the academic activities of the Department of Primary Care and OCOM in teaching/facilitating medical students, performing scholarly activities, and service.
- Work, as assigned by department chair, with OCOM support staff.
- Facilitate/Teach in any assigned courses or act as a course director, if assigned
- Participate in courses/lectures/workshops to meet the curricular needs of the department.
- Participate in the educational activities to include course structure and content, course preparation, written course materials, lecture or demonstration (if appropriate), workshop and lab presentations, course quizzes, exams and practicals, course evaluations and course faculty evaluations.
- Serve as a student advisor
- Participate in student interviews
- Participate in student mentoring in preparation for examinations including licensing board exams as well as coaching unmatched students.
- Exchanges non-routine information using tact and persuasion. The faculty member possesses excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Participate in the medical education of OCOM students in all four years, residents, and physicians, as assigned.
Time Allocation
This job requires the individual to commit to 3 days on campus each week during normal business hours or as assigned by the chair. An additional 8 hours of off campus work.
Requirements- Physician candidates with DO (preferred) or MD degree
- Fellowship training in a medical specialty
- Active Board Certification through AOA or ABMS
- Active US medical license
- A history of exceptional scholarly, professional and/or individual achievement preferred
- Preferred candidates shall have experience in an academic setting and/or health delivery with both being preferred.

- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
