Freight Driver

Key Responsibilities:

1. Driving and Delivery: Operate freight trucks or delivery vehicles to transport goods between warehouses, distribution centers, and customers. This can involve local, regional, or long-distance routes.
2. Cargo Loading and Unloading: Ensure that cargo is loaded and unloaded safely, properly securing the load to prevent damage during transit. This may involve using loading equipment, such as forklifts, or working with a team to manually load and unload items.
3. Route Planning: Plan efficient routes to meet delivery schedules and avoid delays, while considering road conditions, traffic patterns, and fuel usage.
4. Vehicle Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and maintenance on the truck, such as checking the engine, tires, brakes, and lights. Ensure that the vehicle is in good working condition and report any mechanical issues.
5. Safety Compliance: Follow all traffic laws and safety regulations, including hours-of-service regulations to ensure proper rest periods and prevent fatigue. Maintain a clean driving record and comply with local and national driving regulations (e.g., DOT).
6. Documentation: Keep accurate records of deliveries, fuel usage, vehicle maintenance, and any incidents or accidents. Complete and submit logs as required by the employer and regulatory agencies.
7. Customer Service: Communicate with customers, dispatchers, or supervisors regarding delivery schedules, delays, or special instructions. Provide excellent customer service by handling cargo with care and maintaining professionalism.
8. Loading/Unloading Assistance: Depending on the job, drivers may assist in loading and unloading freight, which may include manual labor or using equipment like pallet jacks and forklifts.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; specialized training or certification may be required (e.g., CDL – Commercial Driver's License).
• A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Strong knowledge of traffic laws, road safety, and vehicle operation.
• Physical stamina and strength for long hours on the road and lifting or loading cargo.
• Ability to follow routes and schedules while adhering to safety regulations.
• Good communication skills for working with dispatchers, customers, and other team members.

Pay Details: $25.00 to $50.00 per hour

In addition, our associates may be eligible for paid leave including Paid Sick Leave or any other paid leave required by Federal, State, or local law, as well as Holiday pay where applicable.
